Well, it’s officially part of neighboring Aquiraz, although it’s so close that for most it’s still part of Fortaleza. Finally, this beach is home to one of the largest water parks in Latin America, Beach Park.

Beach Park is a fun place not only for kids but also for adults. You could easily spend the entire day on site enjoying the walks as well as eating great food at the restaurant or just sitting on the beach. There is a water slide called Insano, which is 41m high. Will you face it?

Some attractions you can check out in Fortaleza
Beira Mar: If you had the chance to see just one thing in Fortaleza, choose the beach promenade, known as Beira-mar. So yes, it’s a must! Here you can see not only the beautiful sea, but also craft and ice cream stalls, street food vendors, restaurants and a lot of people. It’s a good place to see the contrast between the sea and the skyscrapers of this city of 4 million inhabitants.

José de Alencar Theater: The José de Alencar Theater was opened in 1910 and was named after a very famous Brazilian writer. The Theater is a National Historic and Artistic Heritage, and its architectural style is considered Art Nouveau. Its main room has capacity for 800 people. Not to mention, it’s beautifully colored. So, if you don’t understand Portuguese to watch a show there, you can always take a tour.

Dragão do Mar: it is a cultural center, with many things to do, such as eating and drinking in one of its bars / restaurants, having a coffee, watching movies, shows, visiting the planetarium and much more. We recommend stopping in the late afternoon for coffee or in the evening for an amazing pizza with beer. Two of the most famous places are Amici’s (for pizza) and Chop do Bexiga (for a beer).

Boat trip: If you want to do something different in Fortaleza and see the city from a different perspective, take a boat trip from Beira-Mar! The tour lasts 2 hours and costs around R$50.00 per person, and you still have some time to swim.

Fortaleza climate and temperature
The weather in Fortaleza is hot all year round. Which is very pleasing to tourists who will always have beaches available and lots of sun to enjoy. The average temperature is around 30 degrees. The minimum is around 24 degrees Celsius.
From February to May, the most frequent showers occur. From August to November it doesn’t usually rain as much.

Fortaleza is waiting for you all year round with lots of sun and heat. So, regardless of the period, it’s worth the trip.
What to try from the local cuisine
Baião de dois – A dish appreciated throughout the Northeast, Baião de dois is made with rice and beans cooked together with additional seasonings, such as chives, tomatoes, pepper. Cheese and butterfat are also often added.

Macaxeira Cake – A cake that uses cassava in its dough, resulting in a peculiar flavor.
In addition to the local cuisine, which includes açaí and crabs, Fortaleza also offers great restaurants and bars, and huge malls, where you can find from famous brands to local crafts. Not to mention the nightlife – one of the best in Brazil – where bars and clubs with live bands take over.
